Above, I have placed the two images that I selected to combine together in the style of Tom Hussey. I have also added a slide show to show the various steps in Photoshop that I went through in order to get the end result, which is placed below. First of all, after selecting my images, I opened them both into Photoshop ready to edit. I then decided that I was going to use the Magnetic Lasso tool to cut out one of the images of my model Beth. After selecting all of the area that I wanted and refining the edges, I placed the section of the image (Beth) on top of the other selected image. I then made some small adjustments in order to make the image look how I wanted it to. This effect took me a couple of minutes, and despite this, I really like the effect created and how I have managed to make it look like there are two Beths there, as I took great care when going round the outline to avoid it looking like I had just cut out an image and stuck it on top of another.
Unlike my first shoot, shoot number two was more inspired by one of the artists that I previously researched. I really like Tom Hussey's idea of having the same person twice in his image, but presented in a different way, so for example, the old man who is looking in the mirror and he can see himself as a Fire Man when he was younger. I wanted to create a similar effect, but this time with confronting modern day stereotypes. In my inital mind map, I listed that ballet dancers are commonly referred to as being quite Girly and Disciplined, and people who are fans of Rock Music are seen as being 'Emo' and Angry. So, in this shoot, I took photos of my sister (who is both a Ballet Dancer and Rock Music Fan) because I felt it would be interesting to compare the two and show that people are not exactly what people judge them as. After taking the images, I went into Photoshop to create a similar effect to Hussey, I made Beth pose in the two outfits as if she was looking at someone in a dis-approving way who was stood next to her, I then combined the two images to give the effect that Beth is actually two different people (just like Hussey did). I think that my Photo Taking skills are slowly improving and I am overall quite pleased with how the shoot turned out, and my Photoshop skills.
