The main focus of my first shoot was to gain more of an understanding of how to use the camera and to become more comfortable with using this kind of equipment. This shoot was not mainly inspired by one of my chosen artists as such, I just took the building idea from my mind map as inspiration. The first part of the shoot took place in the back alleyway behind my house, and the second part of the shoot was in my old house where I grew up as a child. I wanted to caputre how these two places show wear and tear, the walls are crumbling in the alleyway and my old house is currently getting decorated. Overall, I do think this shoot could have been better, but I am happy with it for my first attempt.

As part of my experimentation, I selected one of my images to play around with in Photoshop. The image on the left is the original, and the image to the right is after enhancment. I felt that the left image was a litle dull and boring, so I made it more vibrant by changing the Curve Levels of the Wall in order to make the colours slightly more appealing. I really like the contrast created between the Bricks and the Dark Background, and the Black especially makes the colours more prominant. I also followed the 'Rule of Thirds' technique in order to capture the Wall at an interesting angle.
