Steamed Mirror Self Portrait
In this image, Dila has taken a photo of herself in a mirror that is covered in condensation, with part of it rubbed away. Dila appears to be either naked or very little clothed, and with the mist it appears that she maybe may have just got out of the bath or finished having a wash. I have interpreted this in a couple of ways, maybe she feels at her best when she has had a wash and she wanted to document this moment, she could be really shy and doesn't like showing much of herself, or she could feel more confident when she is alone. I really like this image because of it's simplicity and I haven't seen another artist create this kind of image. I really like also, how the running droplets of water have fallen down the mirror to create trails in the condensation, I just think that this makes the image more natural, as I get the impression she didn't just rub her hand into condensation and quickly took a photo, you can see that it is even starting to steam back up again gradually.

Dila Kaplan is a female photographer who aims to portray stories to the viewer with her style of work. I feel that her work has an element of mystery to it as it is not exactly clear what is going on in her images, I also think that her compositions are very simple and provide her work with that natural look and suggest that the images were taken in the heat of the moment. I do feel that the element of mystery makes Dila's work stand out more so than other photographers and artists, plus I think that her work has a unique style, despite it being so simple. I am not sure what equipment Dila uses, but I think some of her work has quite a dated feel to it and possibly wasn't taken with an expensive camera, but I think this adds to the mysterious effect of her work and makes it stand out to other photographs. Most of Dila's images are of herself and other models, however, she has also taken photos of landscapes and her surroundings. Dila also does 'selfie' work which I really like, this involves her taking the photo of herself either by using a mirror, or turning the camera round so the lens is facing her face. In all of these self-portraits, Dila looks quite miserable and slightly unsettled, this could be to portray her personality or add more mystery to the work.

Woodland
In comparison to most of Dila's work, this image is quite different, as Dila mostly works around people and herself; but nobody is featured in this. I think the setting for this was chosen very well, because this place looks very peaceful and quiet. I also really like the shapes in the image, the thick branch in the middle stands out especially as most of the contents of the image are Green (leaves etc.) and I think this is very effective.
